Pay Range Based on Education, Experience, Certifications and/or Credentials: 

$41,500 to 47,500 per year

Work Schedule: Full-time

Number of Days per School Year: 197 days

(Five days before and five days after school calendar)

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Primary Role and Purpose:  The Special Education Teacher is involved in the coordination and delivery of educational services to students with disabilities as defined by Section 3 of the Americans with Disability Act, as amended. He/she is responsible for the planning and delivery of appropriate learning experiences for students with disabilities in a variety of educational settings.   He/she helps the school implement a special education program that addresses the following provision of services, i.e.; Child Find, Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee (ARD), Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE), Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and insuring due process and services for students in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).  He/she Insures curriculum has a plan for dealing with students with learning, physical and emotional disabilities. He/she works in a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized supplemental instruction for students with disabilities.  She/her performs other duties related to meeting the educational and other special needs of the special education student population.

 

Qualifications:  Special Education Teacher Certification by the Texas State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) for grades EC-12 require. At least two years of school district teaching experience required.  At least one year of special education teaching experience required.
