A. Role and Purpose: The school nurse helps to maintain an on-site student health infirmary and insures the student records are secure, properly stored and updated on a regular basis. Conducts vision, hearing, scoliosis and other required or needed screenings for which qualified to perform. Surveys health and immunization records and initiates actions to secure health and immunization records of students. Keeps student files and records updated. Performs other duties for which qualified and asked to perform.
B. Qualifications/Education: Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) of a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the state of Texas. Must be CPR certified.
C. Special Knowledge, Skills and Experience: Able to work with minimum supervision; Capable of working with students with physical and learning disabilities. Must have temperament and ability to establish rapport and working relationship with students in at-risk situations. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. At least one year of experience working as a registered nurse or a licensed vocational nurse.
