Primary Role and Purpose:
The ESL teacher: Provides ESL educational services to limited English speaking high school students. provides students with appropriate educational activities and experiences that enable them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. He or she helps students develop the skills necessary to be productive members of society. The teacher will be responsible for implementing an instructional program according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, charter polices and administrative regulations for the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). He/she is also responsible for maintaining classroom discipline, documenting attendance and monitoring the academic progress of each student assigned to his/her classroom.
Qualifications: Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited four-year college or university and hold ESL Teacher certification in the state of Texas. At least one year of working or providing instruction to youth in at-risk situations. At least two years classroom teaching experience in a public or private school setting preferred.
